About Words Calculator
Words Calculator is a free, no-account suite for measuring, editing, organizing, converting, and extracting text with visible rules and practical evidence.
Reviewed
A dependable text workbench for students, writers, editors, translators, marketers, teachers, researchers, developers, and administrative users who need an answer without surrendering a draft to an opaque service.
Purpose
The project began with a word counter and now provides focused tools for characters, page estimates, document and webpage extraction, rich-text editing, list sorting, comparison, cleanup, capitalization, random-word selection, and number wording. Each tool is designed around a specific task rather than a generic result box.
Product principles
- Put the working tool before promotional copy.
- Show assumptions, scope, warnings, and evidence beside the result.
- Keep ordinary text and document processing on the device.
- Use a server only where a browser cannot safely complete the job.
- Make exports, undo, recovery, and next actions genuinely useful.
- Avoid fake precision, fabricated popularity, and guaranteed outcomes.
Privacy architecture
Text counters, editors, converters, organizers, and the Document Word Counter run in the browser. The selected document is parsed locally. The Web Page Word Counter is different: after you press Analyze, our server retrieves the submitted public URL without your cookies, credentials, or private-network access and returns bounded extraction evidence. The Privacy Policy documents each boundary.
Methods and accuracy
Shared analysis follows the versioned wc-text-1.1.0 method. Exact counts use programmed rules; planning figures identify their rates or layout assumptions. Document and webpage reports expose what was extracted so a user can review the source of a total. We do not claim one universal definition when platforms or word processors legitimately differ.
Read How we count for word, character, sentence, paragraph, vocabulary, readability, timing, and extraction details. The Disclaimer explains where human or destination-system review remains necessary.
Content and review standards
Guidance is written from the tool's real controls, source code, fixtures, visible outputs, and known limits. Primary sources are preferred for platform rules, standards, formulas, and Google policy requirements. Automated assistance may support research, code, tests, and wording, but it is not treated as evidence or expertise. Our Editorial Policy and AI Policy describe the process.
Accessibility and device support
The intended baseline is WCAG 2.2 AA: semantic headings, labeled controls, visible keyboard focus, useful status messages, touch-friendly targets, color-independent states, zoom and mobile reflow, reduced-motion support, and Unicode-first text handling. Browser capabilities differ, so an accessibility concern is treated as a product defect worth reporting.
Business and advertising status
The public tools are currently free, require no account, and do not run Google advertising code. Google Analytics is available only after a visitor grants Analytics permission through the consent panel, and our integration does not intentionally send the private text entered into tools. If advertising is introduced, it will be separated from navigation, tool controls, results, and downloads; policies and consent will be updated before activation. Advertising approval, search ranking, and platform endorsement are never guaranteed.
Independence and trademarks
Words Calculator is not Google, Microsoft, Adobe, a social network, or an educational institution, and is not presented as endorsed by those organizations. Product and platform names used for compatibility or rule references belong to their respective owners. A link to primary documentation means “verify this rule here,” not “this company sponsors us.”
Corrections and contact
If a result, source, disclosure, accessibility behavior, or explanation appears wrong, send the page URL, tool settings, browser, expected behavior, and a small non-sensitive example to wordscalculator@gmail.com. Do not send a confidential draft unless it is essential and you are authorized to share it.
